Nate Greenslit

Nate Greenslit started his career as a drummer, studying at the New England Conservatory of Music, where he majored in contemporary improvisation, and then studied the history of mathematics and science, philosophy, comparative literature, and classics, at St. John's College. He then went to Johns Hopkins, where he got a master's degree in cognitive science (psycholinguistics), and then got his Ph.D. at MIT in the History and Social Study of Science & Technology (2007). His dissertation was an ethnographic study of the direct-to-consumer advertising of psychiatric medications. Nate then held postdoctoral positions in the History of Science Dept at Harvard, and the Program on Emerging Technologies at MIT. At the Media Lab, Nate worked as a postdoctoral fellow and then a research affiliate between the labs of Dan Ariely and Ed Boyden on a number of projects in behavioral economics, behavioral neuroendocrinology, and experimental psychology. He then went on to work on market research in the field of biotechnology.
