Pei grew up in Vestavia Hills, AL and is a course 20 junior at MIT. She is interested in the application of bioengineering and neuroscience to medicine. She is currently working on using optogenetic technology to manipulate and investigate the neural circuitry involved in functions such as emotion and memory.
